Faster Processing Speed, More Sustainable | Newly Released PET Bottom Paper with 30% Recycled Content

As we all know, pressure-sensitive adhesive materials have a "sandwich" structure, consisting of face material, adhesive, and backing paper. The backing paper of pressure-sensitive adhesive materials is often overlooked by consumers because it is discarded as waste during processing and labeling. However, in the processing of pressure-sensitive adhesive materials such as die-cutting and labeling, the backing paper typically plays a crucial role.

Thinner and faster processing speed is the choice for reducing costs and increasing efficiency for businesses.

In recent years, with the gradual improvement in operational efficiency, an increasing number of industries such as food, beverage, and pharmaceuticals have begun to use high-speed labeling and other methods to process self-adhesive labels. However, the common glassine liner paper is not strong enough, leading to easy tearing during high-speed processing. Additionally, for high-cleanliness processing environments such as food and pharmaceuticals, the glassine liner paper is prone to problems such as paper scraps and dust. As a result, more and more enterprises with a need for high-speed labeling are starting to use PET liner paper for self-adhesive materials.

Compared to traditional glassine liner paper, PET liner paper has higher material performance, allowing it to meet the high-speed labeling needs of up to 60,000-80,000 bottles per hour without breaking. Additionally, due to its inherent transparency, it can meet the requirements of some photoelectric automatic labeling equipment. Furthermore, because of the thinner thickness of PET liner paper, the same roll diameter of self-adhesive material can accommodate more self-adhesive label materials. Therefore, the use of PET liner paper is a cost-effective choice for enterprises to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

"Both efficient and sustainable, PET liner paper with 30% recycled content is officially released."

PET materials are the most common type of plastic, with about 27 million tons used globally each year. However, most PET materials are not recyclable, making the use of recyclable rPET materials a growing trend. In response to this trend, Avery Dennison has launched a new rPET liner paper with 30% recycled content. It meets the high-speed labeling performance of standard PET liner paper and, according to calculations, can effectively reduce the carbon footprint by about 7% and water footprint by 8% per million square meters of non-adhesive material. Meanwhile, rPET base paper has obtained the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certification, deeply empowering sustainable development. On the basis of "increasing without additional cost," it helps customers easily layout the PCR material field and leads the sustainable trend.
